A Buzz About The City

By Ashley Innis 1 Jul 2015

As a ‘Brummie’, I too am really excited. The architecture is stunning and I cannot wait to see the Atrium letting all the natural light through to the concourse below.

Many of the shops and restaurants in Grand Central Birmingham have already been announced and a premium line-up they are too with many firsts for Birmingham including Foyles, Pylones and Kiehls.

But what about the independents?

Happily, we are delighted that we have local businesses like Steel and Jelly joining the Grand Central retail fashion line-up too.  It is great to see this up and coming online menswear retailer take its first “bricks & mortar” step and we are proud they are opening their very first store in Grand Central.  We think it will be a real hit as will ladies special occasion retailer Sonique – a West Midlands ladies fashion and accessories shop with a reputation for special occasion dressing with a legendary touch of class and elegance.

Of course it’s not all about fashion, beauty, books and lifestyle; Grand Central is all about dining and scrumptious places to meet and eat at too. We have announced the arrivals of Carluccios, Pho and Tapas Revolution already. But our newest signing is Yaki Noori – a Birmingham-based independent Japanese Noodle bar with a very tempting menu of authentic Japanese dishes including my own favourite Teriyaki Chicken. #nomnom

But let’s not forget our anchor store John Lewis; the biggest outside London.

I’ve lately had the chance to have a sneak preview of some of the things our Grand Central Birmingham’s John Lewis will be unveiling – and I can report we are in for one wonderful treat.

More to be unveiled as we count down to launch…but if you love stylish beauty floors, technology and gadgets, adore homeware and lifestyle along with premium fashion retail floors then the full line John Lewis in the heart of Birmingham will be the toast of the town.

So that is almost it for this blog post.  There are so many reasons to be excited about what Grand Central will bring to our city; the range of shopping choice and dining experiences will all be here and open in just a few month’s time.  And of course we also think Grand Central Birmingham is going to make the most perfect city meeting place for family, friends and colleagues… roll on September!
