Back to Birmingham for Lisa
Birmingham is where my childhood roots lie. This is partly what makes returning to the City to head-up the amazing new John Lewis shop at Grand Central Birmingham so utterly thrilling.
In 1989, when I first walked through the doors of the Milton Keynes John Lewis shop, I don’t think I could ever have imagined I would one day become head of one of the business’s largest department stores. It’s one of the biggest highs of my career so far. John Lewis is not just a shop – I love working in retail and I love the idea of being back in Birmingham – it’s where my friends and family live so I feel very at home in this city.
Birmingham has undergone an amazing transformation over the last few years. When you are out and about in the streets – eating out, drinking in a bar, shopping or going to the theatre – there is a buzz, energy and vibrancy which makes Birmingham a hugely attractive destination to visit day or night.
For me, one of the most important aspects of being part of John Lewis is the way we get involved with the local community. My ambition and vision is to see our Birmingham store become a part of the community in a strong and meaningful way, and of course to ensure that people who love to shop have a fantastic experience when they come to Birmingham.
