Part 2: New to Birmingham
SWEET TREATS AT GRAND CENTRAL
If you've got a sweet tooth or you feel that no shopping trip is complete without stopping for coffee and dessert then you’re in luck at Grand Central. You’ll be spoilt for choice when deciding where to pick, so why not try out one of our delicious bakeries and stores that are new to Birmingham…
Macaroons have fast become a foodie’s favourite dessert. However, unless you’re able to pop over to Paris for your groceries (we wish!), tasty, fresh macaroons are very difficult to find…until now! We are very excited to announce that Cocomacs, a Birmingham-based independent will be opening the doors to their delicious bakery here at Grand Central. At Cocomacs, macaroons are baked daily in store and come in a variety of different flavours ranging from chocolate to fruity. They will also be selling a Pina Colada macaroon for those in holiday mode!
We think sitting back with a couple of macaroons and a great tasting coffee would be the perfect way to end a shopping trip. If you’re feeling generous, take a gift box home to share with friends and family.
If you’re unsure whether you’re craving sweet or savoury don’t worry as Crêpeaffaire has both covered. Since opening their first shop in Hammersmith in 2004, Crêpeaffaire have expanded across the UK and now their freshly prepared crêpes can finally be enjoyed in Birmingham at Grand Central. Crêpeaffaire has a fun, relaxed vibe where tasty, fresh crepes are prepared right in front of you. You can’t go wrong with the classic Mellow Yellow (butter, sugar and lemon) or if you’re feeling more adventurous go for the indulgent Biscuit Butter (caramelised Belgian biscuit). Alternatively, if you fancy something savoury, give the Mexican Chicken (chicken, salsa, guacamole, cheddar & chilli sauce) a try.
So whether you’re coming for a quick lunch or a tasty snack you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes at Crêpeaffaire – all perfectly cooked to boot.
Gobstoppers is the closest thing we have to our very own Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, selling over 2000 candy, chocolate and grocery products from across the Atlantic. Previously only found in London, Sheffield and Leeds, Gobstoppers is a chocoholic’s heaven, stocking Hershey's, Reese's, and a variety of other products you’ll be hard pressed to find this side of the pond. Gobstoppers stock an impressive 50 flavours of jelly beans, and we can’t wait to try all of them. If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s the Beanboozled challenge – just hope that you’ll be getting Chocolate Pudding rather than Canned Dog Food!
Harry Potter fans will be excited to find out that they also stock Chocolate Frogs and Bertie Botts Every Flavoured Beans.
